Bar on 5 is a new wine bar located in the Tanuki Koji shopping arcade at West 5. It is located on the second floor, up a flight of stairs. Sister bar to the extremely popular TK6 a block away, but with a slightly more relaxed atmosphere compared to TK6′s energetic sports bar vibe.
The menu focuses on Australian and New Zealand imported wines, with Ebisu Creamy Top and Sapporo Classic also available on tap, and specialty sausages and cheese. You can also order from the TK6 food menu and the staff will deliver from there. There are essentially two rooms, with an open passageway connecting them. It is quite spacious and a good place for large groups. The main room features nice dark wood wine displays behind the long bar and against one wall, the second room features a small pool table, foozeball table and big screen TVs.
The staff are very friendly and courteous and speak English and Japanese. The manager is Natasha, originally from the Ukraine but has lived in Sapporo for several years and knows all the locals and best places to visit. I highly recommend Bar on 5 for new visitors to Sapporo, this is a great place to start an evening out and get the latest info on what’s going on in the city.
